Dan Sullivan: HC of Worcester Academy Girls Basketball | Reclassing or a Post-Grad Year for Girls?

▶️ Show Notes

Is a girls basketball post-grad year the right next step, or is reclassing earlier a better fit? Dan Sullivan, head coach of Worcester Academy girls basketball, explains how he approaches both paths and what families should consider before making that decision.

Coach Sullivan joins Cory Heitz to discuss why the repeat sophomore year has become a sweet spot for many Worcester Academy players, how girls basketball recruiting timelines differ from the boys’ game, and what a post-grad year can realistically accomplish. He also explains why players should arrive with a college recruiting list and existing options instead of waiting until winter showcases to start their recruitment.

Beyond reclassing and post-grad years, Sullivan shares his philosophy on player development, self-motivation, earning playing time, and competing against talented teammates. He explains why college coaches evaluate more than scoring, how prep school prepares athletes for different roles, and why realistic recruiting expectations matter.

For players and parents exploring girls prep school basketball, this conversation provides an inside look at Worcester Academy Basketball, NEPSAC competition, college exposure, academics, and the importance of finding the right environment for long-term development.
